VENEERS
BOCA RATON

What are veneers and are they for me?

Are your teeth chipped because of a fall you had a while ago? Chipped teeth can ruin the aesthetics of the entire row of teeth. While chipped teeth are usually filled in and covered, sometimes this isn’t the right treatment. If the breakage is in the front portion of your teeth, the filling won’t help and you’ll need to try something different. This is where veneers come in.

The benefits of our veneers in Boca Raton aren’t just limited to masking tooth breakages. They’re a great solution when your teeth are:

  • Severely discolored.
  • Too small for your face.
  • Completely worn down because of wear and tear.
  • Misshapen due to genetic abnormalities or accidents.
  • Unevenly spaced.
  • Slightly misaligned (and you don’t want to use braces to correct the alignment)

Veneers are shell-like coverings that can be used to cover the front portion of the teeth. They completely mask the front surface of the teeth, covering up any chipping that may be visible.

The veneer shells resemble natural teeth in color and shape and they will look completely authentic. You also have the option of choosing another color, closer to white, for your veneers.

At Somi Dental Group, we are a reputed dental clinic in Boca Raton, FL. We have extensive experience fitting veneers to patients with diverse dental care requirements.

Who shouldn’t get veneers?

While veneers in Boca Raton are a safe and effective way to restore your teeth to their best cosmetic condition, they may not be a good option for you if:

  • You have weak gums or show signs of gum disease.
  • You have loose teeth or decay.
  • You have a habit of biting your nails or grinding your teeth.
  • Your regular diet consists of hard substances like nuts, ice, etc.
  • You have dental fillings, crowns, or bridges.
  • You have a severe tooth fracture.

In these cases, our dentists will be happy to recommend an alternative treatment that meets your requirements.

Choosing the right veneers

There are different types of veneers available today. Depending on your unique dental needs and your budget, our dentists will recommend the right veneers for you. We provide some of the best veneers Boca Raton can provide.

Veneers are made of two materials:

Porcelain
Porcelain veneers are made from premium-quality ceramic. We customized them to your exact teeth measurements and they resemble your natural teeth perfectly. Although they are an expensive type of veneer, they are very long-lasting, making it worth the investment. If cared for properly, porcelain veneers can last for 15 to 20 years.

Composite resin
If you’re on a budget, you could consider veneers made from composite resin. This material is hardy, able to bear the stress, but it doesn’t last as long as porcelain veneers and will need to be changed within 4 to 8 years.

The best thing about veneers is how they can be constructed for both a single tooth and the entire row of teeth. Veneers are highly customizable and you can count on our Boca Raton dentists to make the perfect set of veneers for you.

The veneer fitting process

The veneer fitting procedure starts with an evaluation of your teeth. A dental scan may be taken to identify any structural problems or dental abnormalities you may have. Then, you are provided local anesthesia and a portion of the enamel and sides of the treated teeth are ground using a specialized tool. This gives us enough space to mount the veneers onto your natural teeth.

Next, we use a mold to get your teeth impressions. These impressions are used to create a customized set of veneers that match your teeth’s bespoke requirements. If you choose composite veneers, our dentists will create the veneers at the clinic itself. You can get the veneers within a day.

However, if you choose porcelain veneers, the impressions will be sent to a lab outside, where experts will make the customized veneers for you. It may take a week or two for the finished porcelain veneers to be delivered to our clinic. Once we receive the veneers, we schedule the fitting.

On the day of the fitting, our specialists start by thoroughly cleaning your teeth. Any food particles stuck in your teeth are washed out. Next, we use a dental grinding tool to gently roughen the surface of your teeth. This rougher texture ensures that the veneers stay on your teeth and don’t slip off.

Next, we use medical-grade dental cement to paste the veneer onto your teeth. The dental cement is carefully applied, ensuring that it isn’t visible when you smile. The veneers are pasted onto the cement.

Our dentists then check your bite to make sure that the veneers have been placed properly. Once all corrections are done, we direct ultraviolet light onto the veneers, to help the cement dry faster and bond tightly onto your teeth. Once you get your veneers fitted, no one will be able to know that they’re not your real teeth. They look so authentic!

Caring for your veneers

Caring for veneers is the same as caring for your natural teeth. You should brush, use mouthwash, and floss twice every day. Use pastes and mouthwashes that contain fluoride to quickly destroy any bacterial build-up in your mouth. Cavities can still form in your natural teeth, behind the veneers, so it’s important to be careful.

It’s best to avoid consuming anything that can stain your veneers. Although they don’t stain as easily, in the long run, veneers will discolor if you consume a lot of coffee/tea/cola. Smoking should be avoided as well, to preserve the brightness of the veneers.

If you have any questions about veneer aftercare, feel free to contact one of our dentists. We are always here to help and ensure you get effective results from veneers in Boca Raton.
